An Introduction to Reckless Whales
Over the course of the past few months, NFTs have become a billion dollar industry (with over $2.5 billion in sales in the first half of 2021). The recent popularity of NFTs can be accredited to various artists and creators, viral marketing, and mainstream influencers, however, “whales” have really driven the success of NFTs.
Reckless Whales represent “whales” or individuals or entities that have a significant amount of capital. The project is a collection of 10,000 Reckless Whale NFTs — unique, digital whale collectibles that exist on the Ethereum blockchain (stored as ERC-721 tokens and hosted on IPFS). Each Reckless Whale will be sold for .03 ETH (subject to change; a final decision will be made and announced by July 16th).
The goal of this project was to create a cute and fun NFT collection that could serve as a digital avatar, however, we wanted to take things to the next level. The “NFT space” is still very new, so in order for the industry to continue to grow, it is important that projects begin to create utility around their NFTs and a more interactive experience for their user-base.
Since the start of this project, we have prioritized three main things:
1. Beautiful Art and A Fun, Unique Rarity System
Working with our designer and artist, JDR187, we brought the concept of Reckless Whales to life. Reckless Whales are more than just images of whales. Each Reckless Whale is paired with multiple accessories that are chosen from hundreds of options, making each whale one-of-a-kind. In fact, there are over 750,000 potential combinations for whales!
Each whale will be completely unique and feature the craziest outfits, but there is more to it all. Each Reckless Whale will vary in weight, ranging from 1KG to 10,000 KGs. Their weight will be displayed in a tag that is attached to every whale. Furthermore, your whale be classified into 1 of 4 tiers of whale sizes based on its weight attribute. This trait will directly affect the size of your whale. We will release more details on the distribution of weights and each tier in the near future.
It’ll be exciting to see who the biggest whale will be!
2. Utility
One of our missions was to create a fun way for Reckless Whale holders to interact with each other. Each Reckless Whale will come with a hand of two cards. This will be a property of your whale. While we can’t release too much detail quite yet, what we can say is that the cards will play a role in multiple games that we are creating (stay tuned for more information on these games).
3. Community
Above all, building a strong, supportive, fun, and safe community is our top priority with the Reckless Whales project. We hope to create an environment for like-minded individuals and NFT enthusiasts to hang out and meet friends. Our Discord will be the center of activity. This is where we will host giveaways, airdrops, and events, make communal decisions (such as who we will make a donation of ~$50,000 to), and establish our brand.
