Reckless Whales: Utility, Games, and More.
In 2017, CryptoPunks were created, making them one of the first NFT collections on the Ethereum blockchain. Since then, the NFT industry has blown up and has been working its way into the mainstream world. As a result of the spike in users that are interested in NFTs, we’ve started to see hundreds of new NFT projects and collections being released every week. While NFT art has always been the core and focus of NFTs, it’s important to recognize how quickly the NFT space is evolving and how projects are beginning to add utility around the NFTs that they create — making NFTs more than just “pieces of art” or “avatars for social media.”
Our goal with Reckless Whales is to elevate the expectations of projects and to expand on what it means to “own a NFT.”
Creating Utility around Reckless Whales
We want to create a fun way for Reckless Whale holders to interact with each other. Each Reckless Whale will come with a hand of two cards. This will be a property of your whale.
There are (52*51)/(2!) = 1326 potential combinations for a hand of two cards. Knowing that 10,000 will be created, we expect that each combination will be held by 7–8 other whales (10,000/1326 = 7.54). For example, we can expect 7 to 8 whales to have the cards A♠ and A♣️. We can also expect there to be 45 whales with pocket aces ((4*3)/2 = 6 ways to get pocket aces; 6*7.54 = 45).
As a whale holder, you will never have to pay any sort of entry fee to play any games. All games and events will be free to participate in for the Reckless Whale community. Yes, there will be 10,000 whales participating in each game or event — it will be exciting!
Poker & Other Games
One of the games that we intend on hosting is Poker. We will randomly generate (or we may even use a US state lottery) to determine 3 community cards to form your Whale’s poker hand. The whales with the best hand will be deemed the winner of the game, however, as we mentioned earlier, at any given hand, 7–8 whales will have the same set of cards. We can expect multiple winners, however, your whale’s weight may play a role in the final standings…
Oh, and if any of your 2 cards matches a community card, you are automatically disqualified from that game (let’s call it cheating)!
Unfortunately, due to the nature of things, it will be impossible for some hands to ever win. For this reason, Poker will be only one of the many games that we will play. We will have many other games which will give all whales a fair opportunity at winning. Fairness in distribution is of the upmost importance to us and will ensure every whale has a fair chance at winning. So remember, each and every whale has value, and at the end of the day whales are whales!
